Free bicycle racks in 19 Louisville parking garages

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Metro Louisville is offering free bicycle racks in 19 parking garages around the city.  There will be enough spaces for 250 bikes.

As Louisville Mayor Greg Fisher explained Monday, "We talk a lot about making Louisville a healthier city, and when you make it easy for someone to leave their vehicle at home and commute to work, ride your bike downtown to an event, whether it's work, waterfront festivities, concerts, whatever --that's another way for us to reach our goal."

The new racks are placed near the parking attendant booth or near security cameras.

The $13,000 project was funded by a nearly $8 million grant from the Centers for Disease Control to the Mayor's Healthy Hometown Movement.
