LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A persistent problem is leaving some Louisville residents with Whiskey fungus on their homes. The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District issued a notice of violation to Diageo Americas Supply.
The plant on Millers Lane ages whiskey.
Officials say the non-toxic fungus that feeds off ethanol vapors is getting on nearby resident's homes and cars, but they do want to stress this is not a punishment -- instead it's a compliance situation.
Thomas Nord of the Air Pollution Control District says, "We've found this problem, it violates our regulations. You have to clean it up. You've got to figure out how to not keep this happening."
The company is also accused of spreading smelly odors. Officials want to sit down with the company and come up with a plan to fix the situation.
