Kentucky Kingdom prospective buyers have until Oct. to file

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Those wanting to run a theme park at the former Kentucky Kingdom site have until October 19th to file plans with the state fair board.

The state's finance cabinet issued a request for proposals on Monday, and expects a lot of interest.

Former Kentucky Kingdom owner Ed Hart has said he'll be part of a group filing a response.

The state wants prospective park operators to describe rides and attractions, a marketing plan and pay for the bulk of renovations.

Former operator Six Flags closed the park after its 2009 season.

It still sits unused at the state fair and expo center.
