LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have confirmed that they are investigating a shooting that took place in the 1600 block of Earl Ave., near Churchill Downs.

Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Alicia Smiley says that two vehicles were chasing and shooting at one another when one vehicle ran the other off the road.

Smiley says occupants in one vehicle beat and shot a man in the other vehicle and then fled.

Smiley says that the man was shot in the chest twice at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening and was transported to University Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
