Parkland Boys and Girls Club open to public

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The public is getting a look inside a West Louisville boys and girls club that has struggled to reopen.

The Parkland Boys and Girls Club celebrated its grand opening today.

The community got the chance to tour the facility and become members.

This reopening is considered a key part of the revitalization of the struggling West End neighborhood.

"This is the only place in the community for people. There's no other community centers or anything around here to go to, so I think it was very essential," says Decora Martin, a volunteer who has helped restore the club.

The Boys and Girls Club took over the building from the Salvation Army in May.
