William Clyde Gibson found mentally competent

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An expert finds accused New Albany serial killer William Clyde Gibson is mentally competent.

But there are still other hurdles to clear before a judge decides he can stand trial in the first of three murder cases against him.

Indiana's online court records show the psychiatrist's report was filed September 6th.

Gibson's formal competency hearing has yet to be scheduled.

Gibson is accused of killing two women in March and April of this year -- and another woman in 2002.

His first trial is tentatively scheduled for February.
