BOZICH: WKU Shares Runner-Up Spot With Notre Dame

WKU returns home to play Southern Miss Saturday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – More love for the Western Kentucky football team – and head coach Willie Taggart.

The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) named WKU one of two runners-up for its national team of the week after WKU toppled Kentucky, 32-31, in overtime Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium.

The other runner-up?

Notre Dame, which defeated Michigan State.

When was the last time WKU shared a football award with Notre Dame?

The winner of the award will also make Willie Taggart proud – Stanford, the school where Taggart coached with Jim Harbaugh before returning to WKU.
