LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People around the world go without something we likely take for granted every day.
It's clean drinking water, and that's the main focus of this years Idea Festival.
There has been a huge effort surrounding our drinking water here in Louisville.
A non-profit organization is trying to expand that world-wide, helping people who don't have the resources at hand.
WaterStep is showing off its water purification system, the same system they brought to Haiti after the devastating earthquake.
The generator is set up in 25 different countries that don't have the resources to access healthy drinking water.
Megan Casey grew up in Iraq and knows first hand the detrimental effects of dirty water.
Casey says, "It wasn't even purified, it was not clean healthy water that resulted in so many illnesses and diseases within my family and within my community."
There are demonstrations of the water purification system at the Kentucky Center.
WaterStep is also collecting new and used shoes to help fund the project.
