Man who admitted to killing three-year-old receives sentence

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The Louisville man who admitted to killing a three-year-old will spend 20 years behind bars.

In May of last year, police say Roderick Moss was in a car and fired several shots at an apartment building that had six children inside.  One of the shots hit three-year-old Davion Powell, who died a few days later.

Jefferson Circuit Court Judge Mitch Perry said in court, "You've not only taken a life, you've taken the life of a child. This community and all communities find that act to be reprehensible.  Hopefully this time away from civilized society will have the intent or purpose to let you reflect on that."

Moss took a plea deal in July, pleading guilty to one count of manslaughter and five counts of wanton endangerment.
