Group wants federal judge to stop Ohio River bridges project

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- "Stop spending money on the Ohio River Bridges project."

That's what a group opposed to the plan is asking a judge to force Indiana and Kentucky to do. The Coalition for the Advancement of Regional Transportation filed the motion in court this week.

It wants a federal judge to stop the states from spending on the bridges until there's a ruling on a federal lawsuit challenging the project, or a new environmental report is issued.

The $2.6 billion project will build two bridges between Kentucky and Indiana -- one downtown and one in the East End.
