"Roll Out" event encourages people with disabilities

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A sports demonstration this morning reinforced the belief that almost anyone can be active.

The "Roll Out" fitness event on the University of Louisville's campus was designed to encourage those with disabilities that they too can participate in a number of sports.

Athletes demonstrated 10 different adaptive sports from wheelchair basketball to wheelchair racing, rowing and even archery.

"It's very important on many different levels," says event organizer B.J. Lovins. "One of those is to show people that those with disabilities have abilities and to focus on their ability not their disability."

Organizers hope the event will help modest athletes realize their full potential despite what they might perceive as physical limitations.
