Search continues for pregnant inmate that escaped in Floyd County

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Floyd County Sheriff's Office is looking for an inmate they say escaped while in custody at the Floyd Memorial Hospital.

Floyd County jail admitted Andrew Sands says Bridgette Sims was arrested at Walmart Saturday night for theft and possession of a controlled substance. Sands says Sims is 8 months pregnant and is a heroin user.

Sims was admitted to the Floyd Memorial Hospital after her arrest. Sands says she was undergoing tests at noon on Sunday and was in the restroom, when she found a second door inside the room and walked away from the hospital.

Jail officials believe she may be with a man they have identified as Chris Gentry, who has warrants out for his arrest. Gentry also goes by the alias of Thomas Cook.

Sims is not considered armed or dangerous.

The officer who was responsible for Sims will not receive disciplinary action.

Anyone who has information about the whereabouts of Bridgette Sims or Chris Gentry is asked to call the Floyd County Sheriff's Office at 812-948-5400.
