Health Department conducting TB tests at Fairdale

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Metro Health Department is investigating a single case of Tuberculosis at a local high school.

The Health Department says someone at Fairdale High School contracted the disease in March.

The department says it's still testing dozens of students and staff who may have come into contact with the infected person.

So far, no other cases have been found.

JCPS says it's the only case in the district.

The CDC says TB is a disease caused by germs that are spread from person to person through the air.

The health department says Louisville has about 20 to 35 cases of TB each year.
