LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A pregnant inmate who escaped from Floyd Memorial Hospital Saturday has been recaptured.
Bridgette Sims met the Floyd Count Sheriff Darrell Mills at the New Albany Plaza Shopping Center Monday afternoon.
Mills says Sims' sister dropped her off to meet the sheriff. Police say Sims told them she escaped from the hospital because she was scared.
Mills says, "She said that she just kind of got really scared and started freaking out to use her terminology and so she just decided to bolt out of there."
Sims has been cleared from the Floyd Memorial Hospital and is now at the Floyd County Jail.
She was arrested Saturday and charged with theft and drug possession.
She was undergoing tests at the hospital when she reportedly walked out of a restroom door.
John Fogel was at Floyd Memorial visiting his mom, and saw it all happen. He says, "We seen the lady right in front of us on the second floor. As we came down to the first floor, she was right there plain and simple. She was in a hospital gown and everything and she ran so fast and darted out the back door."
Chris Gentry, who was also wanted by police, is still missing. Police say he is the father of Sims' unborn child.
