LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Fairdale, Ky. man wrote a bad check to purchase a gun.

According to an arrest warrant, 46-year-old Paul Wilson walked into Shooter's Supply, near the corner of Lyndon Lane and La Grange Road, on Aug. 29 to buy a gun.

Police say he purchased the gun for $1,166 and wrote a check for that amount.

According to the arrest report, the account did not have sufficient funds to cover the price.

When store employees attempted to contact Wilson about the issue, police say they discovered that the phone number he gave them had been disconnected.

Police were able to track Wilson down because he showed the store his Kentucky driver's license and Kentucky Concealed Deadly Weapons Permit before he purchased the gun.

He was arrested on Monday and charged with theft.
