LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana man is arrested after police say he attacked his girlfriend's dog with an ax. 33-year-old Michael Hughes is being held at the Vanderburgh County jail on a $50,000 bond.
Police say he attacked the pit bull with an ax Sunday night, injuring the dog's head, legs, and back. The dog survived.
Hughes is facing charges of animal cruelty and resisting law enforcement. Police say he locked himself in a bedroom and fought with the officers who arrested him.
