LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A bank robber is back behind bars, but Wednesday in court it turned out he has a criminal past.
"You got 40 years for robbery in 1984 -- how much of that time did you do?" the judge asked.
"That's where I escaped from," James Lang replied. "I did 27 years of that."
Lang was in a wheelchair when he faced a judge Wednesday morning. A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. He's charged with escape, robbery, and giving a false name to police, among other charges.
Police say on Friday Lang told employees at the PNC Bank on Eastern Parkway he had a gun and demanded money. They say after he received the cash, he ran away.
He remains behind bars on a $100,000 bond.
