LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The body of a Hodgenville man who had been missing since Saturday was discovered Thursday morning in a pond across from Larue County Middle School.
Kentucky State Police say the man has been identified as 43-year-old James Everett Martin. A family member had reported him missing on Saturday.
Sgt. Kevin Johnson with Kentucky State Police tells WDRB News, "And we had talked to his mother this morning who had reported him missing. And...the coroner's office and the sheriff's department...that's who they say it is that we've located."
The Larue County Sheriff's Office notified Kentucky State Police around 9 a.m. on Thursday that the body had been discovered. It was sent to the Medical Examiner's office in Louisville for an autopsy to find out the cause of death.
Sgt. Johnson says authorities don't believe there was ever any threat to students: "The school had been notified to close the windows and other things like that. Which, again, it's across the roadway quite a distance but we did try to keep it secured as much as we could that way."
