INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- An Indianapolis woman who pleaded guilty to felony forgery after being accused of falsely claiming she was injured during the Indiana State Fair stage collapse last year has been sentenced to two years of home detention and two years of probation.
Sandra Hurn also was ordered Friday to pay $7,500 in restitution and perform 80 hours of community service. Authorities said she submitted a false claim to a private relief fund and the state tort claim fund.
The funds were intended for people injured when high winds swept the fairgrounds in 2011 before the country duo Sugarland was due to perform and toppled stage rigging. Seven people were killed and dozens injured.
