WEST POINT, Ky. (WDRB) -- We have learned the identities of three people involved in a violent crash at the Ohio Valley Dragway in West Point, Kentucky Saturday night.

Garrett Deblasi saw the whole thing. "I watched the vehicle take off and he hit the wall with two people," Deblasi said.

Deblasi still can't believe what he saw. He says it was not a pretty sight. "A lot of blood like you could tell and people yelling. And people talking about dying and whatnot."

Track officials say Allen Sinkhorn was behind the wheel of a dragster and lost control after suffering a medical condition.  That's when he crashed into crew members Keith Tremble and Justin Souders.

"You watch the heli come down to pick a guy up, you know it's bad," says Deblasi.

Sinkhorn was taken to University Hospital by helicopter but eventually moved to Jewish.  Meanwhile, track officials and race fans are calling this a freak accident.

"This here, this is my dad...Mike Bickel Senior...he has raced this car now for over 30 years at the Ohio Valley Racetrack," says Mike Bickel Jr., who is a driver and race fan.

Bickel is co-owner of Bickel Bros Auto Sales in West Point.  His family has a long history of racing at the Ohio Valley Dragway.

In fact, he's worked this Sunday, getting his '87 Chevy Monte Carlo Super Sport ready to race at the track next weekend.  Bickel says, "I'm getting ready for the Doorslammer Nationals; it's a Friday, Saturday, Sunday event."

Bickel says Saturday's crash won't scare anyone away from the next big race.  "I think 99.9 percent of the racers that race this weekend won't even think twice about getting in their cars after what happened this weekend."

Meanwhile, a track spokesperson says Sinkhorn is scheduled to have bypass surgery.
