New Albany wants to tighten rules on pain management clinics

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- New Albany is trying to tighten the rules when it comes to pain management clinics.  Monday night, the City Council will consider a move that would restrict how close such clinics can be to a residential district and other pain clinics.

In August, Jeffersonville residents were concerned that a pain clinic opening would bring prescription medication fraud.

One councilman says he's sponsoring the changes because of concerns about parking and traffic troubles the clinics can cause.  He says the clinics are moving into southern Indiana now that Kentucky officials have cracked down on them.
