LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been arrested after police say he crashed into a liquor store, causing extensive damage.
According to an arrest report, police arrested 23-year-old Aaron M. Sexton shortly after 4:30 a.m. Friday.
Police say they witnessed Sexton driving a severely damaged gray 2005 Hyundai XG down Bardstown Road.
When officers stopped Sexton, he allegedly had glassy eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol. He also had difficulty answering questions, according to police, and had "no idea" he had been in an accident.
According to a witness, Sexton had been driving near the intersection of Bardstown Road and Eastern Pkwy., when he almost struck a bicyclist. He then hit the median and lost control, smashing into Old Town Wine & Spirits, "causing severe damage to the side of the building and contents inside."
Police say he Sexton admitted to drinking bourbon earlier that night.
He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief and wanton endangerment, according to the arrest report.
