LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Churchill Downs wants to add a third racing meet to next year's calendar.

It's asked state regulators to approve weekend dates in September of next year to complement its already established spring and later-fall meets.

Some of those dates could conflict with racing at Turfway Park in Erlanger.

A committee of the Horse Racing Commission didn't make a recommendation on the dates today.

It'll meet again later this month.

The full commission has until November first to set dates for all of Kentucky's horse tracks.
