Power now back on in Hardin County, spokesman says

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Nolin RECC officials have confirmed that the power is back on in Hardin County, after about 15,000 residents were without power for an hour Tuesday evening.

Nolin RECC spokesman Vince Heuser says about 15,000 people were without power between Elizabethtown and Ft. Knox between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Heuser says the power outage was caused by an equipment failure at a substation north of Elizabethtown. The outage affected both Nolin and Kentucky Utilities customers.

Officials aren't sure what caused the problem and say it is temporarily fixed. They are continuing to investigate the situation.
