Over 15,000 pounds of canned goods gathered for Dare to Care

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Well over 15,000 pounds of canned goods was dropped off at Yum Brands headquarters on Friday.  It's part of the Founder's Hunger Drive-Thru, to support Dare to Care.

Yum Brands wanted to mark its 15th anniversary by getting the community involved.  One in four children in Kentuckiana will go to bed tonight without enough food.

As Laura Melillo Barnum of the Yum! Brands Foundation explains, "We at Yum have made it our mission to fight hunger, not only working with Dare to Care -- partnering with them -- raising $1 million a year over the last ten years, and we will continue to do that. But also partner with the World Food Program and we've raised over $115 million in over 120 countries to make sure people around the world are not going hungry."

This is part of the world's largest private sector hunger relief effort that Yum Brands started five years ago.
