Tenn. man arrested in Ky. in slaying

Posted: Updated:

MURRAY, Ky. (AP) -- Police in western Kentucky have charged a Tennessee man with murder, saying he ran over a woman with a van.

Deputies with the Calloway County Sheriff's Office say 55-year-old James Paul Cook of McLemoresville, Tenn., is also charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and leaving the scene of an accident in connection to the death on Thursday night of 37-year-old Desiree Moore of Puryear, Tenn.

Major Clayton Hendricks told the Murray Ledger & Times that Cook and Moore had been together in a van, but got into an argument that resulted in Moore getting out of the vehicle. Hendricks said Cook ran over her at least twice with the vehicle.

Records at the Calloway County Jail don't indicate whether he has an attorney.
