Charlie Strong and his U of L football team enter Big East play Saturday at Pittsburgh.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Kentucky has played three Southeastern Conference games. Indiana has been beaten twice in the Big Ten. There's only one team from the six BCS conferences that has not played a league game – the University of Louisville.
That changes Saturday when the Cardinals visit Pittsburgh.
Cards' coach Charlie Strong was asked Monday if it seemed a bit strange to be the only team yet to be tested in the Big East.
Strong said he wished the Cards had been able to get one conference game out of the way earlier on the schedule, maybe in the second or third game of the season. That would be his preference.
"It's kind of different when you've played five (outside the league) and then you go play seven (in the league)," he said.
With the weekend off, Strong had a chance to watch college football. But he sounded like a guy who is more interested in his team than how the rest of the Big East is shaking out.
I asked him if the Big East looked different today than it was projected in August.
"Rutgers is playing well right now," Strong said. "Temple goes and beats South Florida."
