New system tracks every movement of Brownsburg, Ind. buses

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new system is being used by Brownsburg, Indiana schools to track every movement of every bus.

The software lets the district know exactly where all of the school buses are, on a real-time basis. It can also show each buses gas mileage, idle time, speed, location - even the action of the doors.

"When the doors open and close, did they do the appropriate stop at a railroad crossing did they put the amber lights on and put the stop arm out?" says Jon King, CEO of Synovia Software.

Brownsburg schools say it protects the bus drivers in addition to the students.

So when a parent calls to say the bus driver never showed up, the district can check to see whether that's true.
