LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Students at some Indiana schools had to stay a little longer than they expected after an Indiana State Police pursuit caused the schools to delay dismissal.
It started shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, when Indiana State Police stopped a vehicle on I-65 at the 23 mile-marker for a traffic violation, according to an ISP spokesman.
The individual inside the car, 22-year-old Charles F. Jackson, had warrants out for his arrest, the spokesman said. He was wanted for resisting law enforcement.
Police say the Jackson took off, driving the wrong way on I-65, and later, on U.S. 31.
He eventually crashed his vehicle and fled police on foot.
Officers caught up with him at approximately 3:30 p.m. at a Pilot Travel Center in Memphis, Ind., where he was taken into custody.
The pursuit caused nearby schools -- Henryville Elementary, Middle and High Schools, and Silver Creek Elementary, Middle and High Schools -- to delay dismissal of students. Those schools have since been given the all clear.
