LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Portland residents now have a new place to turn when they go out to eat.
The Cup and Cake Cafe held its grand opening on Oct. 9.
Three sisters, their mother and a family friend came together to open the eatery at 2441 Griffiths Avenue. They offer just about any kind of cupcakes, pies, cakes and other sweets.
But they are also giving the neighborhood something crucial that has been missing.
"There's no eat-in restaurants around here," said Tonika Bacon, one of the owners. "There's no restaurant where you can come in, get a nice menu, sit down and order it, where you can get sandwiches like our salmon burger and shrimp burger, which contain a lot of protein and calcium."
Bacon says she wanted to offer residents a different option for healthy food.
The Cup and Cake Cafe is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
