LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Several cases of the West Nile virus have turned up in mosquitoes in southern Indiana.

The Floyd County Health Department reports five cases.

There are seven confirmed cases in Jefferson County, Indiana; Clark, Orange, and Scott counties each have one case.

Mosquito pools in those counties tested positive for the virus.

The CDC says about one in 150 people infected with West Nile will develop a severe illness.

People typically develop symptoms between 3 and 14 days after they are bitten by the infected mosquito.
