LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville sex offender on home incarceration allegedly claimed he performed painting work for a Louisville daycare, according to court documents.
The director of the daycare, however, denies this claim.
Authorities say 52-year-old William Clyde Griffin was on home incarceration when they discovered that he wasn't living where he was supposed to be. According to the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry, Griffin was supposed to be living in a residence on Colonial Oaks Court, near the intersection of Southside Drive and W. Amherst Avenue.
Instead, authorities allegedly discovered that he was living on Wilson Avenue, near W. Hill Street.
According to the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry, Griffin has been convicted of first degree sexual assault against a 16-year-old victim.
The registry indicates that the conviction was out of state, and that Griffin had moved to Kentucky from Connecticut.
According to court documents, Griffin was serving time on home incarceration for a probation violation and child support.
Authorities say Griffin has been non-compliant with the Sex Offender Registry since 2011. This was discovered on Tuesday after he allegedly called the home incarceration office, telling them he was performing painting work for a daycare near the corner of S. Preston St. and E. Broadway.
Griffin was not an official employee of the daycare, according to Metro Corrections. However, the fact that he was allegedly performing work for the daycare violated the terms of his sex offender status, a Metro Corrections source stated.
WDRB News contacted the director of the daycare Tuesday morning. She said that she didn't know Griffin and that he never performed any painting work for her daycare.
Griffin is charged with failing to comply with the sex offender registry.
