Clark County toddler's death under investigation

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials in Clark County, Indiana are investigating the death of a toddler.

It happened at a home on Leon Prall Road near Otisco, north of Charlestown.

A Clark County Sheriff's Department spokesperson says that's where an 18-month-old boy fell and hit his head.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to the medical examiner's office.

An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.

Officers initially responded to a call that the boy was attacked by a dog. After further investigation, the sheriff's office says there's no reason to believe an animal was involved.

Investigators took a vehicle from the scene. They say they plan to examine the vehicle to see if it could have played a role in causing the child's injuries.

The investigation is still in its early stages. The coroner's office has not released the child's name.
