Louisville food ordinance makes calorie counts visible

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- From now on, you're going to know a lot more about what you're eating at certain Louisville restaurants.

On Monday, food inspectors will begin enforcing a new ordinance, which requires smaller, independent restaurants to make nutritional information, like calorie counts and fat content, available somewhere in their establishment.

However, this only applies to restaurants that already post that information on their website or through other communication methods.

Violators have 14 days to comply with the law, or they have to pay a fine of 25 dollars a day.
