Twelve families displaced after Hardinsburg fire

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Hardinsburg Fire Department says a dozen families have been displaced by a fire that occurred Saturday afternoon in the town.

A Breckinridge County official had originally told WDRB News that only four families were without a home after the blaze.

Hardinsburg Fire Chief Jerry Martin says the fire began a little before 1:00 p.m. local time at the Breckinridge Manor apartments, in the 100 block of Chambliss Dr.

Fire officials say no one was seriously hurt as a result of the fire. Two residents were sent to the hospital because they were normally on oxygen support and were unable to have access to their oxygen during the fire.

Authorities say fire crews from around Breckinridge County helped to put out the fire. They says the fire was cleared just after 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening.

The Red Cross is assisting the families who were displaced. Martin says the state fire marshal will be investigating the fire on Monday.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
