LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man found beaten in the Portland neighborhood has died. The coroner's office confirmed the death Tuesday morning.
Family friends tell WDRB News that 26-year-old Mikel Kimbley was found Saturday night lying next to a home on Main Street near 25th Street. He was bleeding and trying to stand up.
"It looked like when they had him down they just kept hitting him because you could see the knots on his head and it was dark outside," says David West, who was one of the men who found Kimbley after the beating. "And you could still see him swelling up."
Kimbley was rushed to University Hospital where he died Tuesday morning. The coroner still has to perform an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
