Firefighters rescue dog from burning building

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Firefighters on Monday morning rescued a dog from a burning Brownsboro Road apartment building.

Officials say the fire started shortly after 8:30 in the kitchen in one of the rear units.  No one was hurt, but a 3-year-old dog was trapped inside.

Resident Billy Carr explains, "I just ran up screaming my dog was in there.  One of the captains pulled him out from under the bed and brought him out.  Luckily, it was in the kitchen and not the bedroom so he was able to hide."

The dog, named "Cash," was given oxygen but is expected to be OK.  Investigators think the fire started on the stove.

One family was displaced -- a couple planning to get married this weekend.

One of the fire engines responding to the accident was involved in a minor accident trying to get to the scene.
