LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Oldham County Police say an argument over a trailer escalated from harsh words to a gunshot that killed one man.
It happened around noon Monday at Wanaja Farms in LaGrange. Police say 50-year-old Emmitt Pendleton was arguing with 63-year-old Richard Hild when Pendleton shot Hild in the chest.
Hild was pronounced dead at the scene.
"A preliminary investigation revealed a verbal argument escalated between two males over a trailer the argument then escalated into a physical altercation resulting in the homeowner discharging one round from a handgun striking the other man in the upper side of the chest," said Oldham County Police Officer Sarah King.
Police say Pendleton lived on Wanaja Farms. Police weren't sure why Hild was on the property or the nature of the relationship between the two men.
Pendleton, who served two years for first degree burglary in Louisville 30 years ago, was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Police say more charges could be forthcoming.
