Peyton Siva was voted Big East pre-season player of the year by the media.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Louisville was the pick by writers
that cover each of the 15 Big East programs to win the league in men's
basketball this season.
And Peyton Siva, U of L's dynamic senior point guard, is the
pick as the league's Big East player of the year. Chane Behanan and Gorgui
Dieng were voted on the second team, according to Mike Waters of Syracuse.com,
who conducts the poll before every season.
Siva was named on 14 of 15 ballots.
Also voted to the first team were Cincinnati guard Sean
Kilpatrick, Notre Dame center Jack Cooley, Georgetown's Otto Porter and
Providence guard Vincent Council.
Joining Behanan and Dieng on the second team are three
players from Syracuse – guard Brandon Triche, forward C.J. Fair and guard
Michael Carter-Williams. A tie in the voting also put D'Angelo Harrison of St.
John's on the team.
Pitt center Steven Adams was voted the league's top
newcomer.
The coaches' picks will be announced Wednesday morning
during Big East media day in New York City.
