Doug is a native Louisvillian and a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a degree in Radio and Television. He started his career in radio as a DJ and Production Director. He is an award winning writer and producer, having written hundreds of commercials.
He went to the sales side of the business at the legendary WLRS in 1989 as a Senior Account Executive. He joined WRKA as an AE in 1992 and was there when COX Radio purchased the station along with WSFR, WVEZ and WPTI. He held the positions of Regional Sales Manager, National Sales Manager and Local Sales Manager.
Doug won the AWRT Star Award in 1999. In 2000, he took on the responsibility of overseeing website advertising sales for the four stations in 2000. He joined WAVE TV in 2004 as the Internet Sales Director and was part of the team that grew online revenue for wave3.com by 300% in six years.
He also, along with his team, introduced WAVE mobile advertising in 2005, and continually grew revenue yearly. He was also on the air as a fill in host of WAVE 3 Listens, and host of The Focus on Health program segments. Doug came to WDRB/WMYO in 2012 as the Digital Solutions Manager, and is very excited about being a part of a winning team!
He has been married to Gayle for 31 years, and has 2 daughters, Elyse and Jayne, and a Grandson, JJ. Gayle is a web creative designer, so they have a lot to talk about every night at the dinner table. Their family also consists of Pearl, a Collie, Ruby, a Jack Russell Terrier, Sylvia, a precocious cat, and Tripod, a three legged cat.
His hobbies are playing, writing and listening to all types of music. He has played in various forms of the same band for the past 15 years, opening for acts like the Monarchs, The Temptations, The Beach Boys, BJ Thomas and Mitch Ryder. He plays Bass in his Church's praise band and is involved in many activities there. He loves to walk and is a very mediocre golfer. His hobbies also include reading, cooking, and dining out with friends. He is a WKU and UK fan, a Yankees Fan, and unfortunately a Cleveland Browns fan. He is very proud to be at WDRB/WMYO.
