LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Trustees of the Worthington Fire Protection District in eastern Louisville appointed Maj. Kevin Groody as interim chief Wednesday night.
Groody will replace Albert Tronzo, who resigned October 19. Tronzo had been recovering from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle earlier in the year, a department news release said. Tronzo had been chief since January 1, 2011.
Maj. Groody has served with Worthington since 1997, in various roles from volunteer to Career Battalion Chief. He previously has served in departments in Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland going back to 1976.
Groody will serve as interim chief until the trustees appoint a permanent chief.
