BOZICH BLOG: Unbeatens Down to 11, But Could Have Been 8

Only 11 FBS teams remain unbeaten. Only 11 FBS teams remain unbeaten.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- College football lost one unbeaten team Saturday.

It could have lost another. At least three more, now that you mention it.

Cincinnati was voted off the Undefeated Island by Toledo, a solid team that has won seven straight after falling in overtime at Arizona to start the season. It's a bad loss, but not an embarrassing one.

The Bearcats fell, 29-23. But three other unbeatens won by a touchdown or less:

*Louisville, which trailed South Florida with less than two minutes to go in the fourth quarter before winning, 27-25.

*Ohio State, which tied Purdue on the last play in regulation and then won, 29-22, in overtime.

*Notre Dame, which scored with less than 13 minutes to play to defeat BYU, 17-14. ESPN has Notre Dame Fever. College GameDay was in South Bend for the ND-Stanford game a week ago -- and now they're going to Norman, Okla., for the ND-Oklahoma game Oct. 27.

Oregon State beat Utah by 14.

Here is the complete Unbeaten Rundown:

1. Alabama -- rolled Tennessee, 44-13, hosts unbeaten Mississippi State Saturday.

2. Florida -- punched South Carolina, 44-11, gets one-loss Georgia in Jacksonville Saturday.

3. Oregon -- rocked Arizona State, 43-21, gets hapless Colorado Saturday.

4. Kansas State -- dominated West Virginia, 55-14, hosts Texas Tech.

5. Notre Dame -- escaped BYU, 17-14, plays the Game of the Week at Oklahoma Saturday.

6. Oregon State -- beat Utah by two touchdowns, visits dangerous Washington Saturday.

7. Mississippi State -- thumped Middle Tennessee, visits Tuscaloosa Saturday night.

8. Rutgers -- controlled Temple in the second half, gets Kent State at home.

9. Louisville -- rallied to beat USF in the final two minutes, hosts Cincinnati Friday night on ESPN2.

10. Ohio State -- beat Purdue in OT, visits surging Penn State Saturday.

11. Ohio University -- had a week to prepare for a trip to Miami (Ohio).

We're guaranteed to lose one more unbeaten next week. I'm predicting we'll lose two others.
