INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indiana's House Republicans are looking to cement their Statehouse majority with enough votes to block any future walkouts by Democrats. But getting to the 67 seats needed for a "supermajority" won't be easy.
Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute President John Ketzenberger says the number is within reach for Republicans, but a handful of pickups in November is more likely.
Republicans were able to drive a more conservative agenda after winning a dozen new seats in 2010.
House Democrats are looking to stop the bleeding as they defend seats for retiring members in rural Indiana and try to reclaim seats they lost along the Ohio River.
Indiana's Senate makeup isn't likely to change much Nov. 6. Republicans hold a 37-13 edge and appear unlikely to lose more than two seats.
