Tips for keeping your yard tidy in the fall

Posted: Updated:

Fall is hear and that means the leaves are falling. The changing leaves brings a certain feel to the season, but can cause problems with homeowners. The Home Depot Guys stopped by to share the best gadgets for fall.

If you want to stay low tech, that means a rake. A landscaping rake is smaller and helps scoop up the leafs in flowerbeds or in between shrubbery. A larger rake makes it easier to clear larger areas of your lawn. Home Depot's Joe Autry says raking leaves can be a great workout for the whole family.

Home Depot's Scott Kruger is all about the power tools. If raking is too much work, there are four types of leaf blowers. Batter powered blowers are light weight and start at around $100. Plug in, electric blowers have improved a lot in the past few years. Gasoline powered blowers have also improved. Now there are models that don't require the user to mix gas and oil. There are also the vacuum blower that make raking completely redundant.

If there isn't a vacuum blower, the guys from home depot says there are alternatives. There's a collapsible barrel that can hold plain plastic bags. The barrels run around $20. You can also get sturdy paper bags that some yard waste companies prefer.
