POLICE: Avoid Tompkinsville, Ky. area due to bomb threats

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Police are advising travelers to avoid the area around Tompkinsville, Ky. after a series of bomb threats led to a school and several businesses being evacuated.

Tompkinsville Elementary School and the Monroe County Attorney's Office received the first threats.  The caller said bombs were supposed to go off 15 minutes later, but no explosions happened.  School was cancelled for the day.

Sonic and McDonald's restaurants and the local Wal-Mart received other threats.  All the businesses were evacuated.

Police say anyone traveling in the area should expect significant delays.
