David Williams for Circuit Court (10/25/12)
According to numerous reports, Governor Beshear is considering appointing David Williams to an open Circuit Court judgeship. And Williams is considering accepting the position if it's offered.
I think this is a great idea, because this appointment would get David Williams out of the state senate, where no one has ever been more effective at holding Kentucky back and preventing the Commonwealth from realizing its true potential. He has intimidated his opponents and fellow Republicans alike, and has blocked virtually everything Governor Beshear was elected to do, and his appointment to the judiciary would eliminate this reign of obstruction.
Make no mistake. David Williams is a brilliant man – smart as a whip. And to put him on the judicial bench would be a wonderful use of his intellect and legal background. It would be a place where his gifts could actually do good every day.
But it would also get him out of Governor Beshear's way so the Governor could accomplish more of his goals. He might even have a chance now to get gambling legalized in Kentucky -- or at least get it on the ballot so the folks who elected him will have a chance to vote on it.
And best of all, it would finally get this bully out of the way of the state Republicans who seem to cower at the mere mention of David Williams' name.
What's not to like about this idea?
I'm Bill Lamb…and that's my Point of View.
