LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A former pet groomer is accused of absconding with cash and checks, leaving his employer in a doggone mess.

According to an arrest warrant, 26-year-old William Wallace worked for Aussie Pet Mobile, a franchised mobile pet grooming service, from May 15 to Aug. 4.

During that time period, police say he took cash and checks from customers, and kept if for himself, rather than surrendering it to his employer. Police say Wallace told the clients to make all checks payable to him personally, and that he later cashed the checks at Check Smart.

He allegedly accepted $65 from a client, and wrote his own name on a check that had originally been made out to the business.

Police say in total, he took $585 in checks and $65 in cash.

Wallace was arrested on Thursday night and charged with multiple counts of theft and one count of criminal possession of a forged instrument.
