Home invasion in Frankfort

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Frankfort Police say a robber not only invaded a woman's home and took money, but shot her dog several times.

It happened just after 3 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of Polsgrove Street.  Police say 23-year-old Laurel Cartwright was watching television when her door flew open and a man came into her home and demanded everything she had.

When her dog tried to defend her, police say, the man shot the dog several times.  Then he left with what's being called an "undetermined" amount of cash.

Police say the dog survived and was taken to a 24-hour veterinarian in Lexington, but has since returned to a vet in Frankfort.

The suspect is described as a white man, about six feet tall, 170 pounds, with a thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white writing on the front and a mask that covered the lower portion of his face. 

The perpetrator is further described as being approximately 6' tall, 170 pounds, (thin build) wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with some type of white writing on the front and a mask that covered the lower portion of his face.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Detective Alan Burton at (502) 875-8523.  You can also Frankfort Crime Stoppers at (502) 875-8648 or on the web at www.frankfortcrimestoppers.com.  Crimestoppers could pay as much as $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
