LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The first NBA scorecard of the season is ready – and play doesn't begin in the league until Tuesday night with three games.
I got tired of waiting for the Detroit Tigers to score runs so I devoted a chunk of last evening to going through the 15-man rosters of all 30 NBA teams, looking for local representation. I used NBA.com as my resource where some rosters showed the final cuts, but a few did not.
Here are my numbers, although they are certainly subject to change as teams sniff the waiver wire and try to improve their talent.
Kentucky
19 former players. The Wildcats lost two at the buzzer when Oklahoma City cut Daniel Orton and Toronto dropped Jamaal Magloire.
Louisville
3 former players in the league after the Pistons released Terrence Williams and there is no sign of Derrick Caracter. (Please send news of a Derrick Caracter sighting my way.)
Indiana
The Hoosiers are down to a pair of NBA players with D.J. White heading overseas. But IU does have a league-leading four former program members who are head coaches, plus an owner.
Western Kentucky
Two former Darrin Horn recruits continue to represent the Toppers well.
Morehead State
Donnie Tyndall's main man -- Kenneth Faried -- should continue to start in Denver.
