Howard Schnellenberger says Bama is better than it was a year ago.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- This week's Game of the Year in college football will be played Saturday in Baton Rouge, La., matching top-ranked Alabama against Louisiana State, which has lost once. Good seats are priced at $2,000 on ticket-broker web sites.
The Tigers are the last team to defeat Alabama.
It won't happen again.
So says former University of Louisville football coach Howard Schnellenberger. He once coached at Bama with Bear Bryant.
"Alabama winning is a given, isn't it," Schnellenberger said.
Well, LSU did win in Tuscaloosa last season before Bama dominated the Tigers in the BCS title game.
"I think Alabama is better this season than Alabama was last year," Schnellenberger said. "They're more experienced on offense. They don't let anybody score. How many points a game are they giving up, seven?"
Actually 8.1, but the Crimson Tide is first in scoring defense, passing defense, rushing defense and total defense.
"Another reason I really believe they are better," Schnellenberger said.
